CoaleXpert is a proven, project-configurable engineering solution for produced water and oily wastewater based on oleophobic coalescing media.

Coalescence in the inter-granular space

After pre-separation, water enters the vessel. Fine dispersed oil droplets contact the oleophobic media, collide and grow. Enlarged droplets separate readily; the oil phase and part of the solid contaminants are retained in the bed and removed during backwash. Oil should not be irreversibly adsorbed; the accumulated phase is removed by backwash.

Role of the oleophobic surface

Oleophobic properties reduce irreversible wetting by oil and, together with a correct backwash, reduce the risk of mud-balling and loss of throughput.

Single vessel

Moderate inlet load and a less stringent residual-oil target.

Two vessels in series

Roughing + polishing. Guideline: inlet up to 500 ppm, target below 5 ppm*.

Continuous operation during backwash.

Backwash

A short, designed backwash removes accumulated oil and suspended solids and restores the working condition of the media.

Guarantees are issued only after water analysis and bench testing.

Technology FAQ

Is CoaleXpert a disposable adsorption filter?+

No. It is coalescence-enhanced granular treatment with oleophobic media; the accumulated oil phase is removed by backwash.

Does a single vessel always achieve below 5 ppm?+

No. Below 5 ppm is a preliminary project target under validated conditions; the number of vessels depends on the project.

Does the facility operate entirely without chemicals?+

The CoaleXpert stage, under validated conditions, can operate without additional coagulants/flocculants; the upstream chemical program is determined separately.

Who owns the technology?+

CoaleXpert is a Chinese brand; design and manufacturing take place in China.

Can the CoaleXpert media be purchased separately?+

No. For the technology to work correctly, in addition to the media, appropriate equipment design and automatic control algorithms are required—all of which are know-how of the CoaleXpert technology platform.
