CoaleXpert
Effective technology for removing oil products
The most affordable and reliable custom solutions for complex oily-water treatment challenges.
Compact engineered solutions for removing dispersed oil and suspended solids before reinjection, regulated discharge or reuse. Project performance is confirmed by water analysis and bench/pilot testing.
Project target below 5 ppm oil*
Modular skid-mounted units with control system
Project design and guaranteed performance
*Project target under validated feed-water properties and a correctly selected configuration. Guaranteed values require water analysis and pilot testing.
What the technology addresses
CoaleXpert targets dispersed oil and suspended solids remaining after primary separation.
- 01
Dispersed oil
Fine droplets that pass through primary separation and complicate secondary/tertiary treatment.
- 02
Suspended solids (TSS)
Solid particles bound to the oil phase that affect injectivity or discharge quality.
- 03
Protection of injection wells
Supports water treatment for reservoir reinjection (PWRI), where residual oil and TSS clog pore space.
- 04
Discharge and reuse
Prepares water for regulated discharge or reuse after project-specific evaluation—without transferring one market's rules to another.
How CoaleXpert works
Oleophobic coalescing media promotes droplet growth in the inter-granular space; accumulated oil and solids are removed by backwash.
- 01
After appropriate pre-separation, water enters the CoaleXpert vessel.
- 02
Fine oil droplets contact the oleophobic media and coalesce.
- 03
The enlarged oil phase and captured solids are removed from the bed in a controlled manner.
- 04
A short backwash restores the hydraulic condition of the media.
The hydraulic scheme, number of vessels and backwash mode are selected based on feed-water characteristics and pilot testing results.

Process integration
A compact CoaleXpert block can replace a combination of secondary and tertiary stages; the number of vessels is determined by the project and pilot testing.
Classic chain
- 01Produced water
- 02Primary separation
- 03Flotation / secondary
- 04Tertiary filter
- 05Discharge / reinjection / reuse
Compact chain with CoaleXpert
- 01Produced water
- 02Primary separation
- 03CoaleXpert block
- 04Discharge / reinjection / reuse
The final scheme depends on the composition of the water, oil and TSS, as well as the target quality.

Applications
Application scenarios to start an engineering dialogue.
Produced water from oil & gas fields
High water cut and residual dispersed oil after primary separation.
Refinery oily wastewater
Emulsions and solid contaminants overload classic filters.
Discharge polishing
Need to approach the regulated residual oil content.
Preparation for reinjection (PWRI)
Residual oil and TSS reduce well injectivity.
Reuse
Oily water needs to be prepared for reuse.
Example of an industrial site where oily-water treatment is applied.
Configuration options
Selected by our engineers, not a universal specification; we do not sell the media separately
- 01
Single vessel
Moderate inlet load and a less stringent residual-oil target.
- 02
Two vessels in series
Roughing + polishing. Guideline: inlet up to 500 ppm, target below 5 ppm*.
- 03
Parallel N+1
Continuous operation during backwash.
*Project target under validated feed-water properties and a correctly selected configuration. Guaranteed values require water analysis and pilot testing.
Two vessels in series (roughing + polishing) are typically considered for inlet oil in the order of 150–500 ppm with a target below 5 ppm. The final design requires analysis and pilot testing.
